Lloyd’s Register Canada Limited is part of the Lloyds Register Group, a premier independent classification society with global coverage. We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified engineer to join our experienced Technical Support office.

The main focus of the role will be carrying design appraisal of machinery components and systems for marine new construction projects in the Americas as well as providing technical support to designers, machinery component suppliers and shipowners in the region.

Job Responsibilities: To carry out design approval of marine engineering components and systems in respect of new construction, conversions and in service projects. The role also includes assisting clients in the design and construction phase, participating in meetings and shop tests of components and systems where required.

Job Requirements:
Engineering degree preferred
Several years of relevant working experience either in a shipyard, consultancy, classification society or other marine related organization
Knowledge of the marine regulatory regime, including the classification process and IMO conventions/codes and Flag Administration regulations
Membership of an appropriate professional institution
Ability to work in accordance with professional codes of conduct
Ability to use a combination of general and specialist electrical engineering knowledge and understanding in the application of existing and emerging technology
To be able to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, manufacture, construct, commission, operate and maintain engineering products, processes, systems and services.
Good technical and commercial management skills and knowledge, e.g. project management, process management.
To demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and initiative.
Proficiency in verbal and written English skills.
Well developed PC skills.
