This was interesting, I understand Atlantic Towing is one of the better companies to work for. I think that like most of the East Coast companies they preferentially hire locals but does anyone know how they had to go looking for a C/E for one of their offshore vessels on such short notice? I would have expected AT to have at least a small pool of candidates for such an occurrence. Are the Canadian licencing requirements making the Canadian pool shallow(er)?

I imagine they would like some confidentiality around hiring situations but this question is really more general about the licencing process and the effect on Canadian certs so maybe it belongs in the TC - STCW thread...
