IT International Telecom Inc. (“IT”) is a privately owned subsea network integrator that designs, installs, and maintains subsea telecommunications cable systems. IT is an ISO-certified company, with locations in Barbados, Montreal, Halifax and marine operations on the east and west coast of North America. IT is led by an entrepreneurial management team and is recognized as a leader in its field and uses modern and advanced information systems.

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, IT is seeking a Third Engineer to work on a permanent rotational basis (6 weeks on/off) on the C.S. IT Intrepid. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Ensure the safe and efficient operation of machinery, specialized cable and operation equipment and equipment in the Engine Department
Keeping engineering watches according to regulations, company rules and guidelines
Monitoring maintenance and routine engine room operations
Advising the Chief Engineer about spare part requirements
Assisting with spare part control systems and keeping them up to date
Monitoring fitters and motormen
Monitoring of machinery to ensure efficient operation, to minimize fuel and oil consumpation and to ensure maximum availability of machinery at all times
Ensuring that other departments are kept fully informed of any engine room activities which may affect them
Understanding and implementing the Safety Management System (SME) with the Engine Department
Reporting defects or irregularities to the Chief Engineer immediately
Ensuring efficient and economic usage of spare gear
Keeping planned maintenance up-to-date
Implementing HSE policies at the individual level
According to rank, understanding international and national regulations, codes and guidelines, company policies and instructions on emergency duties

Required Competencies:

At least 2 years experience in rank and on similar type of vessel
English competency required
All necessary certificates in hand
Ability to work with different nations and respectful of different cultures
Ability to solve problems based on experience and education
Team Player
Experience on different types of propulsion
Knowledge of main and auxiliary engines
Knowledge of repairs and technology and materials
Knowledge of diesel electric engines
