Duties

The Marine Engineer operates main engines ensuring that all auxiliaries, pumps, ventilating fans, steering motors and furnaces are functioning if a safe and efficient manner. The Marine Engineer inspects, repairs and maintains the mechanical and electrical equipment on the ferry. The Marine Engineer also assumes duties related to the Mate including arranging vehicles and/or cargo on deck, collecting tickets where applicable and ensuring that the boat is clean at all times. The crews on the ferry work three 12 hour shifts and are off for 3 days to support 24 hour operations, 365 day per year.

Qualifications

Grade 10 plus CP-Continued Proficiency 4th Class Ministry of Transport Marine Engineer Certificate and 3 years mechanical experience is required. Certificate of Medical Examination of Seafarers Regulations, a valid Marine Emergency Duty Certificate and valid Marine First Aid are also required.

This position requires that the ability to lift 50 pounds, as well as standing, shovelling, walking, climbing and sitting.

This is a Term opportunity with an anticipated end date of June 23, 2019.

Pay Grade: MOS 13

Salary Range: $1,716.00 - $1,763.00 Bi-Weekly
