Duties and responsabilities

Identify regulatory trends and potential threats to CSL’s operations and develop and implement strategic and tactical plans to address those threats;

Monitor legislative and other public policy issues and business opportunities of priority to the company.

Provide expertise on and monitor Canadian and global shipping policy developments

Provide counsel to Senior Management team on and proactively identify appropriate opportunities to enhance strategic relationships with governments and shipping associations

Provide expert knowledge, intelligence and insight on political risks and opportunities that may impact CSL’s strategic plan (M&A, business development activities, etc.)

Actively share shipping and advocacy knowledge and experience with all divisions

Prepare and submit lobbying reports as required. Participate in the development and implementation of budgets for expenses related to lobbying activities, trade association memberships and political contributions.
Coordinate all CSL activities within various marine associations (CMC, Sodes, etc) to ensure active CSL participation and influence.

Qualification and skills

Bachelor degree in administration, politics or other related fields

Proficient in French and English

5-10 years of relevant experience

Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders

Ethical and accountable

Ability to influence others
Highly knowledgeable about the political, economic and social factors affecting public policy decision making
