Third Engineer (Maintenance Engineer)

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Third Engineer will perform their duties with a high degree of efficiency and accuracy, and will work closely with the engineer group. This position is vital to the safety and reliability of the vessel and the successful candidate must be able to operate, maintain and improve ships systems and assets. Your proficiency in the following areas will be expected to support the vessels safety and reliability.
Possess a valid 4th class motor, MED and valid Medical certificate
Assist engine room staff in any daily technical challenges
Recognize and respond to the work list posted by the Chief
Analyze and record instrument readings and equipment malfunction
Troubleshoot; perform corrective action or minor repairs as required.
Perform routine equipment maintenance such as clean and lubricate machinery and components
Execute any and all scheduled and corrective maintenance
Perform metal fabrication and machine work when required, lathe, welding
Maintain daily log of operations, maintenance and safety activities;
Assist in the development of operation, maintenance and safety procedures
Contribute to maintaining a neat and clean vessel
Work in full compliance with safety, quality, environmental and health regulations.
Strong communication, problem solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
Consideration will be given to candidates with Engine Room Rating (ERR) Certification and have the ability to advance to a class 4 marine certificate. Experience in the fishery would be a definite asset
