Job Summary/Basic Function:
BCIT is one of Canada's largest post-secondary institutes, with more than 45,000 students enrolled in certificate, diploma, apprenticeship and degree programs.

The Marine Campus, conveniently located in North Vancouver, is a premier provider of marine training in Canada. Many instructors are marine engineers with worldwide and local experience, utilizing their extensive skills to deliver a wide variety of marine engineering courses.

The campus is currently seeking a regular, full-time Faculty to deliver a variety of Marine Engineering and electrical technology courses.

The ideal candidate will be able to bring industry experience into the classroom, develop course and program curriculum, deal with relevant operational and educational issues, and cultivate positive relationships with students.

Minimum Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid First or Second Class Motor or Combined Certificate of Competency.
Minimum three years seagoing engineer experience/shore based position while in possession of a First or Second Class Motor or Combined Certificate of Competency.
Degree or Diploma in Engineering would be an asset.
Preference may be given to candidates with an educational background in any of the following subjects (with an ability to teach applied subject matter as it relates to Marine Engineering): Math, Chemistry, Physics, AutoCad, or Communication.
Solid communication skills (excellent command of the English language, both written and oral).
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Demonstrated computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
Prior teaching experience an asset.
Completion of an instructional techniques course or Provincial Instructor Diploma (PID) program would be an asset.
