A friends writes:
looking for Chief / 2nd Engineers. There is a fair bit of work available so it won't be a temp position. Algoma has a new fleet now and in my opinion a very good place to work.

We are currently searching for qualified Watchkeeping Engineers to join our team.

Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, Watchkeeping Engineers are responsible for maintenance and upkeep of the generators, general service, drinking water, ballast, bilge and fire pumps, bow thruster hydraulics and diesel engine as well as all hoisting equipment in the engine room or on deck. As well to ensure documentation of all maintenance carried out is kept up to date in the planned maintenance system and/or the vessel files.

Candidates must possess:

4th Class Engineer, Motor Ship issued by Transport Canada
Marine Medical issued by Transport Canada
Certificate of Proficiency for Vessel Personnel with Security Responsibilities (preferred)
Canadian passport or permanent residence status

We are currently searching for qualified Second Engineers to join our team.

Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, 2nd Engineers are responsible for operating and maintaining a vessel’s propulsion and auxiliary systems including responsibilities for main engines, boilers, fuel, steering mechanisms, feed systems, electrical, refrigeration systems, sewage treatment, lube oil, standing watch in the engine room, directing and supervising unlicensed crew, recording and reporting on the engine’s performance.

Candidates must possess:

2nd Class Engineer, Motor Ship issued by Transport Canada
Marine Medical issued by Transport Canada
Certificate of Proficiency for Vessel Personnel with Security Responsibilities (preferred)
Canadian passport or permanent residence status
