The Opportunity

As our Maintenance Engineer you will be an integral part of the Maintenance Management team to ensure the safe operation of equipment, along with effective capacity utilization, reliability and life cycle asset management.

As our Maintenance Engineer you will:

Be a champion of safe work practices at the terminal.
Develop standards and SOPs that relate to safe and efficient work practices.
Be accountable for the quality and effectiveness of the predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
Lead, facilitate, and manage maintenance projects from conception to completion.
Identify continuous improvement opportunities in maintenance procedures and practices, including cost containment, gained efficiencies and waste reduction improvements.
Be accountable for the generation and reporting of KPIs relating to asset performance.
Review and monitor performance against plans, standards and practices, taking the initiative to make recommendations for improvement.
Maintain, collect and analyse data in order to apply analytical thinking and analysis tools for root cause and/or cause and effect determination.
Support compliance with regulatory, corporate and site safety and environmental standards by conducting risk assessments, safety audits and developing safe operating procedures.

What you bring to the role:

Proven performance in leading improvement initiatives, particularly with regards to safety and maintenance excellence.
An engineering degree in a related field and at least 5 years of experience in maintenance augmented by previous supervisory experience gained in a unionized environment.
Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, (Maximo preferred).
Strong understanding of modern maintenance and reliability best practices, including Reliability-Centered Maintenance and Condition-Based Maintenance.
Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated abilities working with various trades, such as electricians and/or mechanics, within a unionized and heavy industrial environment.
Outstanding analytical and problem solving skills, coupled with exceptional time management, organization, and planning skills.
Self-reliance with strong written and verbal communication capable of taking initiative and making decisions under time constraints.
A flexible team player who is able to work as required and willing to adapt to change.
Knowledge of the Container Shipping Industry and equipment is preferred.
