Currently we are recruiting for an exciting security position in downtown Victoria.

SENIOR MANAGER - FLEET OPERATIONS
Victoria (Atrium or Swartz Bay)

As the lead for improving the customer experience through maximizing operational factors, you are responsible for achieving key departmental objectives to ensure our vessel crews are operating safely and efficiently.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Fleet Operations, your primary responsibility is operational safety through the development of strong nautical policies and procedures. Additional key areas of responsibility include operational safety, risk management, analyzing key performance outcomes (e.g. on time performance), fleet wide communication with vessel crews, liaison with Transport Canada and management of the B.C. Ferries SMS.
Previously you have extensive experience as a deck officer, and you have also managed operations in a dynamic environment. In addition, you have past success leading complex projects and you are skilled in conducting marine accident reviews. You bring to the table exceptional business acumen and a desire to drive overall performance improvement including safety throughout the fleet.

Technically you have commensurate knowledge of Transport Canada regulations, best practices in Safety Management Systems and an ability to present to the senior leadership and make well researched and supported recommendations for improvements.
Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a deck officer and an additional 5 years in a marine operations management position. Ideally you hold a Master certificate and or have completed a Bachelor/ Master’s degree; although a combination of education and experience will also be considered. A familiarity with project coordination, participation on multi departmental advisory groups and passenger operations would be an asset.
