DOF Subsea Canada is currently seeking a detail oriented and client focused individual for the position of Chief for a DP3 Construction Support Vessel with a 250T crane to work Offshore Atlantic Canada. Tasks can include, but are not limited to:

Taking responsibility for the efficient, safe running and maintenance of the mechanical, electrical, and ancillary equipment and deck machinery on board the vessel, together with the safe and efficient use of the manpower available;
Ensuring the operation of all machinery, Planned Maintenance Systems, and Survey Planning with inspection and verification of items of plant, to maintain the vessels class;
The upkeep of the vessels Technical and Operational Manuals;
Responsible for ensuring that all members of the Engine Room Department are thoroughly conversant with the Vessel Pollution and Dangerous Chemicals Regulations issued under the Canada Shipping Act.
Responsible for recording Marpol required items;
Responsible for maintaining all engine checklists for DP Operation and all other general engine department checklists;
Ensuring the vessel design certification package is compliant and in date;
In cooperation with the Vessel Manager and Superintendent, prepare dry dock specification and work scopes;
Prepare Monthly updates reports for review by Vessel Manager and Superintendent;
Assist Master for the implementing the Company's policies and Safety Management System
Responsible to review the spare parts stock and make recommendations for changes according to the relevant charter party, routes and trade areas;
Perform watch duty if required;
Responsible for the follow up on own competence such as relevant personal certificates, courses, medical licences and informing crew department of own training needs;
Total commitment to working safely and fully complying with the Company Safety Management System;
Lead by example by demonstrating the correct behaviour in implementing all QHSE programs
Ensure that vessel Permit to Work System is fully implemented and maintained in engine room department in accordance with company procedures;
Recognize the ‘ownership' of health, safety and environmental control within their sphere of activity and lead by example;
Ensure that a chain of command exists whereby responsibility and authority for safety matters are clearly determined, documented and understood;
Conform with the emergency procedures applicable to their place of work. Ensure that the workforce is aware of, and understands, the emergency procedures;
Facilitate effective two-way communication with the workforce on QHSE issues. Conduct Toolbox Talks and Pre Job Safety Meetings. Attend QHSE Meetings and ensure workforce participation;
Ensure all safety devices provided are utilized and maintained, protective equipment is worn, safety rules are observed and safe working practices applied;

Requirements

Educational, Experience and Certificate Requirements:

Post-Secondary Education in Marine Engineering;
First Class Motor-ship Certificate;
Minimum of 5 years working on marine vessels in offshore industry;
Previous experience working on a Construction Vessel would be considered an asset;
STCW MED, BS, SC, AFF;
Marine First Aid;
Valid Canadian Seafarers Medical;
Valid Canadian Passport;
Working knowledge with Diesel Electric Engines will be given preference;
A high-level knowledge of ISM, ISPS, Transport Canada, MARPOL and all applicable legislative requirements for operating vessels in Canada;
DP Maintenance Training;
Demonstrable experience in management role or lead position within offshore industry;
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;
Excellent communicator, both verbal and written;
Capable of discussing issues and topics of importance at every level;
Good organizational skills and ability to multitask
