We are currently seeking a full-time, Kitimat B.C. based, Superintendent / Small Vessel Fleet Engineer to join our growing team at Bridgemans Marine Transport. Reporting to Kitimat Operations Manager, Small Vessel Fleet Engineer will be responsible for the Planned Maintenance System, organizing, and executing of work required for all vessels, including costs and budget requirements, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of marine fleet.

The successful candidate will have the ability to adapt to changing working environments either in the field or at desk depending the requirements of the Small Vessel Fleet.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for the organizing, and executing of work required for all vessels, including costs and budget requirements.
Determine and provide plans for the best practice in ensuring all vessels have required regular servicing/maintenance, including the use of a digital based Preventative Maintenance Management System (PMS) to track Preventative, Corrective, and Restorative maintenance routines for Marine Vessels and all supporting equipment;
Creates and monitors the maintenance records/logs for each vessel while ensuring accountability of each vessel captain/SVMO;
Collects all maintenance related documentation from each vessel on a set schedule including Logs, Action Item Requests, etc., ensures Action Item Requests, once approved by the Manager, Operations, are completed, and maintains records for each;

Ensure compliance with Transport Canada and our Client standards and relating to ISM and our SMS.

Work with corporate office to enhance our business systems.

Requirements

Minimum 3 years’ experience with relevant marine experience as Superintendent of Chief engineer
Ability to work in the field and in office as required
WHMIS;
Computer literacy with specific knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Valid Class 5 Drivers License;
Relevant technical knowledge;
Ability to clear a drug and alcohol test prior to hiring and potential random tests throughout employment with prior notice;
Excellent comprehension and command of the English language; (written & verbal);
Excellent organizational and time management skills;
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Needs to be responsible, accountable, and dependable
Confined space training is an asset
Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
Ability to take initiative and work effectively while unsupervised
Able to work well under pressure
Strong organizational skills and strong attention to detail

Qualifications

Three (3) years relevant experience working on Marine Projects or Offshore
Marine Engineer Qualifications / SVMO is a minimum
Certification paperwork as applicable
