Overview

Altera (Atlantic) Management ULC nature of business is the provision of crude oil marine transportation services and the operation/management of crude oil shuttle tankers operating on the East Coast of Canada.

Position: Chief Engineer

Position Summary

Reporting to the Captain and the Vessel Manager, the Chief Engineer is responsible for the administration of the engine department, for the safe and economical operation of all machinery throughout the vessel. He/she is responsible for the performance of all machinery, maintenance, inventory of stores, and personnel. This position is a leading role on board the vessel that implements company policies to ensure procedures are followed to provide a safe working environment.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience

6 Years Experience in Rank
First Class Motor (COC)
Dynamic Positioning Maintenance Experience
Specialized Oil Taker Endorsement
Valid Unrestricted Transport Canada Marine Medical
Valid Transport Canada Marine Emergency Duties Proficiencies
Valid Transport Canada Ship Personnel with Designated Security Duties Certificate
Valid Canadian Passport
Safe Work Systems
Criminal Record Screening Certificate

Qualification Preferred

Experience in working with NSE (Planned Maintenance System)
Training in the following:
Telemetry Technician Course
High Voltage for Engineers
K-POS Maintenance Course
BLS Training
Dynamic Positioning relevant courses: Artemis, BLOM, DGPS/DARPS Maintenance

The successful candidate must have previous shuttle tanker experience and comply with regulatory requirements for the respective position as outlined above. Preferred candidate is a self-starter and has analytical and problem-solving capabilities. The successful candidate can demonstrate effectiveness in working with charterers, safety leadership and employee/team development.
