Brief description of the company:

IT International Telecom Inc. (“IT”) is a privately owned subsea network integrator that designs, installs, and maintains marine cable systems. IT is an ISO-certified company, with locations in Barbados, Montreal, Halifax and marine operations on the east and west coast of North America. IT is led by an entrepreneurial management team and is recognized as a leader in its field and uses modern and advanced information systems.

We are currently looking for a Chief Engineer.

Reporting to V.P of Vessel Operations, IT is seeking a contract Chief Engineer, responsible for all ship’s maintenance, including the operation of all the ship’s equipment. The candidate must ensure that all ship’s propulsion machinery and associated equipment is maintained, properly calibrated, and certified as required.

The C/E supervises a team of Second and Third Engineers as well as Electrical Officers and ETO who perform watchkeeping and maintenance duties according to industry norms and VShips Technical procedures.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Fully understanding the Vessel Safety Management System and be able to direct Engine room crew with respect to it.
According to rank, understand international and national regulations, codes and guidelines, Company policies and instructions on emergency duties
Implementation of the vessel’s planned maintenance system
Exercising control over ordering, storage and usage of spares and stores in order to achieve minimum downtime in a cost-effective manner
Ensuring appropriate machinery records are maintained and reports complied for management and Classification Society
Making machinery available for survey by the Classification society and carrying out surveys himself on behalf of the Classification Society where appropriate
Ensuring all records, manuals and technical drawings are updated and maintained in a correct and usable form
Demonstrating to the Client’s Representative that all machinery is maintained in proper working condition
Implementing HSE policies at the management level

Required Skills:

Five to ten years of experience in rank and on similar type of vessel
All necessary valid certificates in hand
Ability to solve problems based on experience and education.
Team player
Experience on different types of propulsion, main and auxiliary engines
Services and repair of main and auxiliary equipment
Knowledge of repairs technology and materials

Interested and available for national and international travel. A valid passport is required. Must not have any international travel restrictions.
