Responsibilities:

As an Marine Millwright, you are required to remove and replace engines, mechanical systems, and fluid systems of commercial vessels. You will have the ability to perform a TCI/CSI (Re/Re prop, shaft, cutlass bearings, packing, dripless seals, various measurements and through hulls and valves) on commercial vessels. You will be able to take readings of shafts, rudder stocks and identify corrosion areas or wear on these parts.

Remove and replace engines, mechanical systems, and fluid systems of commercial vessels
Perform a TCI/CSI on commercial vessels
Install new and added-on equipment
Repair cooling, and lubrication systems
Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation
Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques
Work in adherence to all safe work practices, procedures, as well as all regulatory requirements
Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager


You Possess:

A minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on mechanical maintenance and repair experience, preferably with coastal tugs or fishing vessels
Knowledge of vessel operations and requirements of the marine industry preferred: Candidates with experience in mining, industrial plants or grain terminals tend to be a good fit for this role.
Marine engineer experience (4th Class or Higher) would be an asset.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical, including schematics and diagnostics
Electrical experience with 12/24/110 volt is an asset
Previous welding & fabricating experience is an asset
Confined space training is an asset
Class 5 forklift ticket an asset
Strong safety mindset
Ability to take initiative and work effectively with minimal supervision
Able to work well under pressure
Demonstrates strong communication skills both verbally and written
Solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
Quality oriented and strong attention to detail
Responsible, accountable and dependable
Must be capable of physically demanding work including lifting, carrying and ability to climb on tugboats, fishing vessels and barges
