Canada Free Trade deal, with itself

Post by The Dieselduck »

Have you heard of the new inter provincial deal struck by the provincial governments in Canada. In all in all I think its high time that the playing field be leveled across the country. I believe there is trade certification now recognized across the provinces, which will be good for companies to import East Coasters to do West Coast jobs. Of course the exception is offshore work, mmmmm.
Nova Scotia opted for a number of exemptions in the agreement, one Samson said will continue to ensure Nova Scotian goods, services and workforce are the first to benefit from offshore projects within the province’s jurisdiction.

I guess one thing is, they are setting the ground work for pot legalization, which will be good, as some might need to pick up the habit to fight the depression from the constant PFO (Please Fuck Off) letters from East Coast ship operators.

This has interesting implications for government purchasing. Everything over 25k is subject to the provincial trade agreements which means that it is posted on the Buy and Sell site that Public Works, or whatever they're called now, so that it can be bid on across the country. I have no idea what the implications are, will it open up purchasing policies, will government employees still be forced to go through hoops.

So go across the NB/QC border and buy a few cases of suds in Quebec. (It's cheaper there) Then bring it back to NB, you will have the suds confiscated and probably spend some time at HM Pleasure behind bars. Build a house in Nova Scotia and hire contractors from any other Province. You will be shut down. Free Trade in Canada? HA! Try to import BC wines into the Maritimes, see how fast you land in jail!
