He was the only son of the late Walter and Letha (Cook) Corkum. He went to sea at an early age working on numerous ships, retiring in 1991 when he was chief engineer on the Canadian Coast Guard Ship, Louis St. Laurent. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his close friends and loved his outside work. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, the former, Joan Horne; daughter, Cathy (Richard) Hubley; granddaughters, Theresa and Tania Hubley. Visitation, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater and where funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. Phil Locke officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasantville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of choice. On-line condolences may be made by visiting http://www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
