Re: Spot the difference
I spy with my little eye......
Isn't this the same idea as what happened to the BCFC ship that went into the marina a few years ago? For the lack of a cotter pin....
Excellent shots, BTW. They are really clear.

Re: Spot the difference
Yes indeed a good shot. I love my Canon DSLR but its really the lens that makes all the difference!
Its a shot of the top deck of an EMD 16 645 diesel burning MDO. The watchkeeper noticed a drop in exhaust temperature, but he was very persistent and notice the wiring for the pyrometer was not connected properly, and did not identified the proper cylinder. The low temperature had been investigated and found normal for the labeled for the cylinder, so we were just going to change the pyrometer... but as it turns out there the instrument was reading right and there was an obvious problem visible right away once investigated. The engine had just been rebuilt, so whether the very small retaining clip was forgotten or just fell off, the clevis pin fell out. It connects the unit injector to the rack.
The clip was found, and replaced. Unit was again producing power. A simple fix with a quick conclusion. Gotta love that !

Re: Spot the difference
For the want of a nail, the horse lost a shoe
For the want of a shoe, the horse went lame
For the want of a horse, the messenger fell
For the want of a messenger, a message was lost
For the want of a message, the battle was lost
For the want of a battle, a war was lost
For the want of a war, an empire was lost
And it was all for the want of a nail....
