Great Lakes Feeder Lines

Anyone have any experience with Great Lakes Feeder Lines? What are they like to work for? what is the condition of their ships etc etc

I was on the crew that brought the Dutch Runner over the first time. It was a helluva trip (http://dieselduck.blogspot.com/2008/07/ ... rsexx.html). The ship itself was well built, but that was 25 years ago, and since then it suffered from a lack of love and running on heavy fuel. As a result she was a very busy engine room for just two engineers. The accommodations were ok, but dirty. All this of course depends on money, and at the time the company was just starting up, so not much extra was kicking around to work out the bugs - but then again I haven't met too many shipping companies happy to spend the money on crew accommodations or the likes.

The "owner" was Alder at the time, an engaged and enthusiastic chap that seems like a nice guy to me. I know that there has been a steady rotation of engineer on her, I suspect for the reasons mentioned above. The Arctic Sea, I have not heard anything about her.

GLFL wasn't exist any more but it was bearable. If you want to experience real suck Company you have to apply to Lower Lake Towing. Management arrogant and Shipwreck Vessels.
