Judging from the corrosion pitting on the pins and the cone you have water and bugs acidifying your fuel.
The score marks on the cone, and the bent pins look as if they were made when the bowl turned while being tightened, caused by incorrect assembly.

Hmm, yes that makes sense. I'm sure this things has been reassembled incorrectly hundreds of times. plus this boat has been neglected in Norway for 5 years before being picked up and converted into a research vessel... Bending the pins is probably what allowed them to fall out.
(it was like that when i got here, chief!)
I used DEVCON to reattach the pins, test- ran it for 24 hours, no vibration, seems to be working good. new distributor on order, though.
