Do anyone have any idea if Sulzer RTA 58 have different type of cylinder head??
If yes then what is the difference....

Hi,
I am not sure about the cylinder head but I have had problems with other parts.
Many Sulzer Engines are built under licence in Japan or Korea.
On one ship I jopined I found that the spare cylinder liner had 12 cylinder lubricator quills, while the ones in the engine only had 8.
After prolonged discussions with the Super, on the lines of "Well how do I fit it then?", he agreed to buy a new one.
When the new spare arrived, it was identical to the existing spare!!
After long discussions with the Super and the supplier and emailing numerous photographs they agreed we now had two unusable spares.
The spares we received were original Sulzer design and as such were sourced from competitive suppliers.
However, the Japanese Licencee that had built the engine, had "improved it" by changing the liner design, and the correct liner could only be obtained from them, at a much higher price.
Good bussinessmen the Japanese, like the old Fluorescent tube saga. National Standards exist to protect National Businesses.
