Your 4th Class, STCW III/1, Engineer Officer in charge of a watch is a world class Certificate, not "only" a 4th Class. A Canadian Certificate is highly regarded world wide.

I know Jolly Jack, and I am proud of my ticket. I worked my way up from Oiler, and built a good working relationship and good reputation with many companies. But truth of the matter is not many places want a fourth anymore... The jobs I get are with companies I have did casual with in the past, or companies I left in the past. Thankfully I always leave on good terms, either for money or to expierence something new... But even these companies tell me I have an open door, but they have no desire to hire other 4ths, they want minimum 3rds now... Thankfully I have never had to go on EI in my life but TC and Canadian Companies for the most part are making a fourth engineer a thing of the past.

As the holder of a valid 1st class certificate and approximately 11 years service on the 567 and 645 EMD engines, I would be interested to learn more of the details of this posting.
