Summary:

Directly oversee daily vessel operations including maintenance planning, engineering practices and procedures, and the execution of repairs and daily functioning and maintenance of machinery within the Fleet Operations Group.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Manage day to day vessel operations for assigned vessels including certification, budget development, implementation, and monitoring.
Develop and manage scheduled annual dockings and vessel winter refit programs.
Monitor operating expenditures for repairs and maintenance.
Ensure safety and pollution measures are maintained.
Provide on-going evaluations of engineering staff to ensure high levels of performance.
Develop, implement and maintain recognized and effective preventative maintenance programs and system.
Develop relationships with classification societies and regulatory authorities.
Direct and supervise all Vessel Managers and Engineer Officers on board vessels.
Develop programs to track and monitor vessel machinery performance.
Monitor fuel and lube consumption and take necessary steps to improve efficiencies.
Manage non-capital engineering projects.
Establish vendor and contractor relationships.
Other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Competencies Required:

1st or 2nd Class Canadian Motor Certificate (1st Class preferred)
Minimum 5 years management experience in marine transportation operations.
Strong understanding of Safety Management Systems and the International Safety Management (ISM) Code.
Strong computer skills and experience using MS Office and preventative maintenance systems.
Strong leadership and customer service skills.
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Special Notes:

Office environment with frequent travel to vessels.
Required to be on-call to provide after hours support.
