Anyone hiring 4th engineers?

Post by cato »

I cant seem to find a company that is hiring 4ths or even motormen. They all want 3rds or higher however I need more hours before I can write.
Ive sent my resume to every company I can think of but no luck. Anyone know any companies hiring? I live in N.S.

Have you tried McKeil? Sure a first class is great, but we have all started at the bottom, and McKeils doesn't seem to mind too much. Coast Guard...

CG is a Pit of despair for everyone, they fall under Treasury Board rules so they can only hire casuals for 3 cycles a year, no matter how good the casual is. Pay is lower then elsewhere. In consequence they are always looking.

Keep in mind that if you sign on as a rating, qualifying service for 3rd Class is 1 day in 3, to a maximum of 180 days. You need 6 months IN CHARGE OF A WATCH out of a total of 12 months.

Can you expand on that? Is that some sort of probation?

CG is federal and follow Treasury Board staffing. There are maximum lengths of time for casuals. However that can be followed up on. Here is the link for applying
