Arrow reappears

Post by JK »

The Arrow was an enlarged version of T2 tanker that sank in 1970 off the NS coast after finding Cerberus rock ( it was not an unknown hazard).

I remember when the Arrow went aground and how the cleanup that followed opened the eyes of many as to how the agencies of the government were woefully unprepared to deal with such a disaster.

Come now JK haven't you read your oil spill response plan lately?
According to the plan all it takes is a phone call and everything needed will be on scene in record time.

It certainly was when a Rowan jack-up rig spilled a considerable amout of diesel into the strait of Canso! The time certainly could have been improved, but to get things in place, at night, in the dark, in a couple of hours took a bit of doing. It was done though.
