I was on the ferry this AM and noticed this:
I haven't seen a fire bucket in years and it was probably full of sand for the boiler!
It was located next to the escape window:
I immediately imagined frantically dipping the bucket out the window to fight a fire while the panicking masses were trying to get out!
I had a look around, since I was the only one on the ferry, they were probably wondering what I was up to as they watched on the close circuit camera. There were two of these fitted:
No apparent fixed suppression system and Halon fitted in the engineroom.
I have absolutely no idea what the regs are for a ferry that carries 100 people, but the bucket was rather primitive ( and hopefully effective!)
