This year, the Vancouver Island Branch of the CIMarE's annual up island meeting is tentatively scheduled for September / October 2013.
I am doing some pre-planning for this meeting, and was wondering if any Marine Engineer's, or those related to the field, would be interested in a tour of the new $200 million Mt Hayes LNG Storage facility near the Nanaimo Airport. It is a very interesting facility, a major part of Fortis BC's natural gas supply infrastructure, and timely, due to the interest of LNG as a marine fuel. If you are interested in participating in this event, please send me your expression of interest to 'martin (at) dieselduck.net". You don't need to be a member of the CIMarE, but you should be related to ships / power generation in some way.
More info on the facility - http://www.fortisbc.com/About/ProjectsP ... fault.aspx
Additionally, if you have any ideas for a technical presentation suitable for the CIMarE, or those in related fields, in the mid / upper island region, that you think would be of value to our peer group, please don't hesitate to send it my way for CIMarE consideration (send me an email and I will fwd).
