Qualifications:

3rd or 4th class engineering ticket
STCW Basic Safety within the last 5 years or refresher
STCW Survival Craft within the last 5 years or refresher
STXW Advanced Fire Fighting within the last 5 years or refresher
Vessel Personnel with Security Responsibilities
H2S Alive
Marine Medical
First Aid
WHMIS 2015
Experience as a 2nd engineer considered an asset

Responsibilities:

Safe and efficient Engine Room Watchkeeping and machinery performance monitoring in accordance with applicable regulations
Perform pertinent planned maintenance activities
Ensure that all hazardous work is carried out under controlled conditions and all safety procedures observed
Maintain up–to–date inventories of Engine Room spare parts, stores and supplies
Training and supervision of junior engineers and engineering cadets
