Eric Alain Lacroix
It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Eric Alain Lacroix, on July 13th, 2018. At the young age of 33.
Eric leaves behind his mother: Nancy (Mongillo) Lacroix, his father, Pierre L. Lacroix, his brother Kevin (Amanda Mahoney) Lacroix and their children Olivia and Sophia, his sister Denise (Fraser Chewins) Lacroix Chewins, his grandmothers Madeleine Lacroix and Maria Mongillo as well as many uncles, aunts and cousins.
Eric was predeceased by his Paternal Grandfather Réal Lacroix (July 13th, 2012) and his Maternal Grandfather Carmen Mongillo (April 18th, 1989)
Eric Graduated from Riverview High School and from the Nova Scotia Community College in Port Hawkesbury in their marine engineering assistant program. From there Eric progress and obtained his engineering certificate and secured various positions as marine engineer aboard commercial vessels as well with the Navy to eventually join the Canadian Coast Guard as an engineering officer aboard the CCGS Hudson ending his career as Chief Engineer aboard the Search and Rescue vessel Courtney Bay in St-John New Brunswick.
Eric had a passion for cycling, motorcycles, travel, outdoor activities, music especially playing guitar and he loved solving mechanical challenges. Eric will also be remembered for his kind heart and generous volunteer work with homeless shelters and the SPCA. Eric will be greatly missed by many close friends and family who loved him dearly.
In lieu of flowers donation can be made to Loaves and Fishes, the SPCA or a charity of your choice.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation for Eric will be held Sunday August 5, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Funeral mass will be held the following day August 6,2018 at Holy Rosary Parish, Westmount at 11a.m. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
