A cam that has had to be cut off the camshaft to be replaced with a split cam?

Sailed on ship with a V10 Pielstick PC4 main engine, the one with the camshaft that slid for'd and aft for ahead and astern timing. The ship was a little over ten years old, and didn't have an original exhaust valve cam on the engine.

Correct, It is the fuel pump cam from a MaK 453.
The engine oversped, and the cam slipped when the pump seized.
When we actually run the engine on load, we found that the engine would not run over 20% without extremely high exhaust on that cylinder. The liner, head and rings had to be replaced again. It took a bit of digging to find out that the MaK FSR had timed the A-bank cam to the B-bank settings by accident.

The engine was 13 weeks just in the re-build as the crankshaft had to be replaced as well, 10 hour days/6 days week so the engine fitters were getting pretty ragged by then.
With everything,getting the parts in and out of the ship then the rebuild, I think the whole job was about 20 weeks.
