Re: westfalia Purifier Problem
How old is this stuff? I haven't seen this PLC 100 for years. I would run the machine manually (without the automatic program) to test the separation and the ejection but it is unlikely that they are all defective. It must be something common to all three. "The water has good pressure" wha...

Re: westfalia Purifier Problem
Hello Eben 4E. Which control panel do you have? Are the separators all taking from the same water supply? Is it a main or a header tank? It sounds like a lack of operating water. Check the flow through the valve. What has happened i.e. when and how did this issue begin? Will it operate ok in manual?

Re: Alfa Laval S846 HFO Separator problem
Hello Chillmen. What is the back pressure reading? Which valve is flow adjust valve that you refer to? Is it a proper flow control valve (usually red plastic knob with a 'number of turns' type mechanical display) Is the feed pump controlled with a VFD? If so, turn down the frequency to slow down the...

Re: Alfa Laval S846 HFO Separator problem
Does it turn freely? Is everything tight especially the two lock rings? Got a good clean water supply? Correct temp? Test it by running it. If you don't want to get it dirty then run it on water manually to check the operation.

Re: Alfa Laval S846 HFO Separator problem
Hello chillmen, is your quote of my response to Namit4's issue of no drop in pressure on PT4 during the timer the same as what you are experiencing now? The feed staying on during discharge is a possible for this alarm. The 3-way valve V1 operates up and down, not rotary in my experience and I have ...

Re: Excessive Erosion on liner surface_ Wartsila 18V46
Hello mdjahirul. It looks more like corrosion. Need more information: How many hours on the liner? What is the condition of the piston/rings? What was the condition of the unit last time it was pulled? How do you hone the liners? Do you take regular PMI measurements? Are there any previous issues of...

Re: Alfa Laval S846 HFO Separator problem
So the Transducer - No Response alarm is no longer coming? Is it still discharging? Was PT1 Low part of the initial problem? What is the alarm limit for the feed (Pr15)? You can disable PT1 by setting Pr14 to 0.0b. If the pressure out of the pump is 2.5b then it is not low. PT1 is after the pump and...

Re: westfalia Purifier Problem
You need to confirm the pressure. If the panel (sensor) cannot read the correct pressure then it is likely to affect a lot of the programme. The list of PAL outlet (#44 alarm) is on this page near the top, have you been through that list of possibilities? It is unlikely to be the new sensor (is it a...

Re: westfalia Purifier Problem
andreas97, which control panel do you have? Which alarm is coming? When you say the gauge pressure is 1.8 to 2.8 do you mean that the pressure is fluctuating (going up and down between 1.8 and 2.8)? How are you adjusting the throughput? Is the new pressure sensor reading the same as the old one (if ...

Re: Alfa Laval S846 HFO Separator problem
Hello Simardeep, these spurious problems with separators are the most difficult. If it is fuel then it is likely on a one hour separation (?) so it is going through 24 discharges and then an alarm on the 25th. The controller is expecting a rise in the trigger value during Ti64 and Ti65 and when it d...

Hello andreas97. Which W/F is it, OSD 20? Is this correct? Can you provide the full model number? Which pressure reading is correct, the panel or the gauge?

Re: Alfa Laval S846 HFO Separator problem
Dumdum, so if the oil is overflowing through the water outlet there is a lack of sealing water (same as displacement water). Perhaps there is an intermittent water flow problem as it sometimes comes back on line. Perhaps, other consumers starve it of water at certain times (?). If the problem is alw...

Re: Alfa Laval S846 HFO Separator problem
Hello izwicky18, I am familiar with a spike in temp after discharge as the fuel is usually circulating through the heater and this two minute 'short circuit' puts more heat in the fuel but I've never seen it that high or for that long. If the control valve is controlling the steam inlet correctly th...

Re: Alfa Laval S846 HFO Separator problem
Hello dumdum. I presume that the oil is properly heated and a reasonable throughput. What is the separation time? As PT4 is the clean oil outlet backpressure, it suggests that there is no clean oil coming out of the machine. What is the reading of PT1 (the oil inlet pressure)? What is the reading of...
