Re: westfalia Purifier Problem
Hello andreas97. Which W/F is it, OSD 20? Is this correct? Can you provide the full model number? Which pressure reading is correct, the panel or the gauge?

Re: Alfa Laval S846 HFO Separator problem
Dumdum, so if the oil is overflowing through the water outlet there is a lack of sealing water (same as displacement water). Perhaps there is an intermittent water flow problem as it sometimes comes back on line. Perhaps, other consumers starve it of water at certain times (?). If the problem is alw...

Re: Alfa Laval S846 HFO Separator problem
Hello izwicky18, I am familiar with a spike in temp after discharge as the fuel is usually circulating through the heater and this two minute 'short circuit' puts more heat in the fuel but I've never seen it that high or for that long. If the control valve is controlling the steam inlet correctly th...

Re: Alfa Laval S846 HFO Separator problem
Hello dumdum. I presume that the oil is properly heated and a reasonable throughput. What is the separation time? As PT4 is the clean oil outlet backpressure, it suggests that there is no clean oil coming out of the machine. What is the reading of PT1 (the oil inlet pressure)? What is the reading of...

Re: Post purge sequence on Boiler after emergency trip
Hello Vegman. There will always be a pre-purge. Presumably, if it is an emergency then a complete stop of everything is required. In my experience manually flashing is the dangerous bit. When the bridge and chief are screaming at you to get the boiler back on and your manual pre-purges are getting s...

Re: Alfa Laval S846 HFO Separator problem
Are you stopping it for a reason (the bowl leaking) or just an operational decision, can you keep it running longer than a month? How many total hours on the machine? The 'o' rings including the rectangular rings and valve plugs should be good for six months or 4000 hours. What is the condition of t...

Re: Alfa Laval S846 HFO Separator problem
Dodong, why is the water transducer off? How does the machine remove water if it is set up as ALCAP when it is not being detected? The water outlet is not permanently open like an old style gravity disc separator. The machine runs ok for a month but if you stop it for a day the bowl will not close, ...

Hello eddexter. Check the main change-over valve (V1) is working correctly. Check the valve plug hasn't dropped off.

Re: Alfa Laval S846 HFO Separator problem
Hello Loues. There is a lot here. Regarding the fuel; what is it and what level of TSP was on the spec from the supplier and what were the results of the analysis? Has the fuel been mixed onboard? What was in the bunker prior to lifting the subject fuel? De-bunkering is an expensive business so we h...

Re: Alfa Laval S846 HFO Separator problem
Hello Dodong I think we have all experienced a leaking bowl. The PTFE tape around the rubber 'o' rings sounds like an attempt to fix a sticking bowl. Have you replaced the 'o' rings and checked the grooves for damage? They should be OEM parts and have a light coating of Molykote 1000 or the anti-fri...

Re: PURIFIER BOWL ISSUE
The number of discs should be marked on the top disc. The example given in the manual is: ***********Attention: Pay attention to the correct total number of disks! It is marked on the blind disk, e.g. 84/1: - Total number of disks A and B = 84 (Total number of disks with spacers A + number of blind ...

Re: westfalia Purifier Problem
How do you know that the water in oil is increasing? Is the water sensor on the engine lubrication system showing the water level? What is the level of water before and after the purifier is run? Is the purifier putting water in the oil? Is the water sensor on the purifier working correctly?

Re: Westfalia OSE 20-0136- No Water Seal during Timer T35
Is it an E40 control unit?
Is it set up for LO or FO?
What is the setting of T35?
Is it #40 Alarm? Have you tried all the possibilities in the manual?
I posted this list previously in another Westfalia problem.
