2023 April, Vancouver - Mari-Tech 2023

Post by The Dieselduck »

Mari-Tech 2023 Conference & Exhibition, EVOLUTION THROUGH TECHNOLOGY AND TALENT, invites members of the global marine engineering community to contribute technical papers for presentation at the conference being held in Vancouver, BC on April 18-20, 2023.

What are the "Hot Topics"?

Abstracts for technical sessions should align with the following “hot topics” areas. However, these topics are not exclusive and abstracts on state-of-the-art and innovative advances in all areas of marine engineering will be considered as aligned with our theme.

• Challenges of talent engagement, recruitment and retention
• Creating Diversity in the Marine Sector
• New and emerging technologies
• Maritime emissions and the era of ultra low sulphur fuel oil
• Alternative fuels, alternative energy capture and storage
• Sails, solar, and other sustainable energy in reducing the carbon footprint
• Electric propulsion; hybrid solutions
• Autonomous vessels; automation
• Digital twins; Data analytics
• Vessel innovations: antifouling, ballast alternatives, hull designs
• Arctic operations for equipment and vessels

How will sessions be formatted?

Mari-Tech 2023 will offer technical presentations of 45 minutes (35-minute presentation; 10-minute Q&A)

How to submit an abstract?

Authors are invited to submit their abstract of a maximum of 300 words online by 11:59 PM (ET), Wednesday, November 30, 2022. Abstract must be written in English. Please identify all speakers who will be in-person to present.

How are papers selected?

The Mari-Tech 2023 program subcommittee will review all abstracts and make selections using a consensus approach. The intention is to select interesting abstracts that will inspire lively and fruitful discussions and selection will be based on the abstracts received. It is important that they contain sufficient information to demonstrate technical merit, innovation, and relevance with more educational value than a business development focus.

The program subcommittee, at its sole discretion, may select any or none of the abstracts received and decisions are final. Invitations to present will be sent to authors whose abstracts are accepted by the program subcommittee by December 16, 2022.

Questions regarding submitting an abstract should be directed to the Mari-Tech 2023 program subcommittee.

Lots of great things happening in Vancouver, lots of students (high school) events. Ship tours, expo, technical presentations, collaboration with SNAME and ABCMI as well, means this is a must visit event for anyone in the marine industry.

I like the SNAMI collaborations. I was seriously considering going until I did my taxes.

Ahahaha, thats funny JK.

Yes, SNAME has been a partner for quite a few years, started with Jeff in Ottawa - 2010 i think, and more or less collaborated with them ever since. Public Works joined in Victoria, 2018, and this year ABCMI joined as well. It is really becoming a professional, seriously connected and important maritime event in Canada.

Hope the tax thing works out, mine was better news by the sounds of it.
