It is with sad remembrance that we announce the passing of Hugh Doherty who died on 7 August. Hugh had a long career in the marine world, having served in the Royal Canadian Navy as Chief Engineer of the auxiliary vessel Laymore, then with the CPR Coastal Services, a stint with BC Ferries and finally HMC Dockyard. Hugh, a very affable and approachable gentleman was a very supportive member of the Canadian Institute of Marine Engineering, having stood on several committee positions over the years and had been in regular attendance at our meetings. An obituary appeared in the Saturday Times Colonist giving a few more details of his family life.

Respectfully,

Tony Cond
