1925-2020. It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we, the family announces his passing on August 13, 2020. Jack left home in Dartmouth at a very early age and joined the Merchant Navy before making his career in the RCN for 25 years retiring as a CPO. He also served and was one of the few remaining Canadian soldiers that served during the conflict of the Korean war. Jack was chosen to lead a team of instructors in Nairobi, Kenya for CIDA who was accompanied by his wife, Margaret. This was one of many highlights and achievements in his naval career life that he was most proud. Jack was honored in receiving the (MMM) Medal of Merit in Ottawa at the Governor General House. His reward was presented to him by the Governor General Leger and his wife followed by a luncheon. Jack acquired many hobbies over the years that included golf, hunting, and fishing. After he retired, his interests included on to gardening and carpentry. No matter what Jack set out to do it became "mind over matter". Jack was a very kind man and shared his vast wealth of knowledge with anyone who wanted or needed help. Jack held high standards achieving many life long goals with never ending learning and persistence. He and his wife, Margaret, enjoyed travelling the world meeting and making new friends along the way. He is survived by the love of his life, Margaret (Connors); his daughter, Crystal of Dartmouth; his son, Kenneth (Paulette) of New Brunswick; granddaughters, Kelly (Jason Dill); Alabama; Tara Edwards, Alberta; great-grandchildren, Chandler and Darren MacKenzie and Margaret Ralph. He was predeceased by his parents, Harvey Lorne Edwards and Daisy (Tuffs) Edward; brothers, Regional and William; We want to thank the following organizations who supported our family throughout this difficult time, the staff of Dartmouth General Hospital, Palliative Care, Victrian Order of Nurses, Continuing Care, and Veteran's Affairs. Much appreciation goes to family and friends. Donations can be made to The Missions to Seafarers or a charity of your choice. Celebration of life will be held at a later date for family only.

How Long Does A Man Live?
We carry him inside us For as long as we carry The harvest of his dreams;
For as long as we ourselves live; Holding memories in common, A man lives.
