Reformar is an organization from Rimouski that has been supporting researchers, research and training institutions, as well as government and private organizations in carrying out their scientific projects in marine science and technology since 1989. In concrete terms, Reformar takes care of the complete management of a fleet of scientific vessels as well as all that a scientific mission can involves as planning. We are currently looking for potential candidates as Chief Engineer (2nd class). Briefly, as Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth operation in the engine room of the Coriolis II vessel. Supported by the office and the Master, you will be the transmission belt between the engine room crew, the office and the Master. Challenges and fun are guaranteed!

Under the supervision of the Master, you…

- upervise and provide technical assistance to the staff;
- Perform repairs and maintenance of the engine room and equipment according to the procedures of the corporation;
-Ensure compliance with safety and environmental policies;
- Ensure conformity of ISM manuals/procedures, ship certification, departmental records and maintenance records (SINEX);
-Prepare, plan and coordinate the preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment on board, as well as dry docks;
-Manage the inventory and order the necessary parts while checking their conformities, and provide annual budget planning; and
-Perform other related tasks required for the benefit of the organization.
-Requirements, skills and professional qualities sought:

TRAINING/CERTIFICATES:

- Valid Transport Canada STCW Basic Safety Certificate (MED) obtained within the last 5 years;
- Canadian Certificate – Persons with security responsabilities (PWSR);
- Engineering Officer Certificate – 2nd class;
- Valid Transport Canada Marine Medical Certificate.

MARINE EXPERIENCE: We are looking for someone with experience as a Chief Engineer, who has everyone’s safety as a priority in addition to being proactive, autonomous and versatile!

LEADERSHIP: We are looking for someone who has positive energy and leads their colleagues into this movement.

PROBLEM SOLVING: This will be the person’s daily life and this is what will make his work non-routine and exciting! So, yes, a capacity to ‘’take charge’’ is essential.
