Coastal Transport Limited has a requirement for a Chief Engineer for the M/V Grand Manan Adventure, operating on the Grand Manan Ferry Service, New Brunswick, Canada.
Schedule: Week on/Week Off
Essential Requirements:
• 2nd Class Motor Unlimited Certificate or higher, Canadian Certificate of Competency
• MED with respect to STCW Basic Safety
• MED in Advanced Fire Fighting
• MED for Senior Officers
• Propulsion Plant Simulator – Level II
• Marine Advanced First Aid
• Experience using computerized ship preventive maintenance systems
• Experience working as a Chief Engineer on twin engine/twin screw vessels with 2,000 to 6,000 HP or more
• Leadership attributes leading an engineering team during daily operations and preparation for and throughout work periods and refits
• Excellent management skills
• Experience in preparing refit specifications and leading teams during refits
• Experience with Watchkeeping procedures, paralleling generators, alarms & monitoring equipment
• Detailed knowledge of ISM code, Canada Labour Code and Marine Occupational Health and Safety Regulations (MOSH)

• Passenger Safety Management
• Specialized Passenger Safety Management (Ro-Ro Vessels)
• Knowledge of fueling procedures and environmental impacts.
• Experience with the operation and repair of medium speed diesel engines.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair various mechanical, electrical & hydraulic systems.
• Experience using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
• Experience with preparing detailed comprehensive incident reports.
Preference may be given to persons living in the region.
