4th Class Marine Engineer (URGENT Relief Position)

Dartmouth, NS

LeeWay Marine is the leading marine services company in Atlantic Canada, operating fully crewed vessels to support all ocean going sectors. Our company is built on the fundamental principle that knowledge drives success.

We are currently accepting resumes for experienced and qualified marine engineers (3rd class & 4th class), for a 2-3 week Chief Engineer relief position doing day work in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, followed by a vessel transit to Newfoundland, BEGINNING OCTOBER 16.

Responsibilities:

Monitor performance, maintenance and repair of all machinery and electrical equipment
Carry out refueling procedures at various ports of call
Ensure that proper engine room watchkeeping arrangements are in place
Ensure that the vessel’s maintenance program is implemented and maintained
Ensure that adequate engine room stores, supplies and spare parts are available on board for the intended voyage

Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent
Valid STCW Engineering Endorsement (must be endorsed by Transport Canada - Unfortunately International endorsements cannot be accepted)
STCW Basic Safety
STCW Survival Craft
STCW Advanced Firefighting
Valid and Unlimited Transport Canada Marine Medical
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to operate software applications relevant to position
Ability to read, write, and understand English
Proven track record of relevant offshore experience in the marine sector
Valid Canadian Passport
Must pass Drug and Alcohol screening
