Job Objectives :
The Service Engineer works independently in the planning and executing significant service activities on SCHOTTEL propulsion equipment, such as installation, commissioning, discontinuance, in-depth troubleshooting, and emergency repairs with minimal technical support and minimizing equipment downtown. Held responsible for ensuring that specific maintenance programs are professionally administered on a day to day basis through on-site liaison with the customer and maintaining technical service records upon completion.
Provide leadership and work direction to less experienced Service Engineers and Service Technicians, supporting their development through the provision of on-the-job training.
Responsibilities:
Undertake and provide technical advice along with leadership to a team assembled to perform major repair jobs either in the field or in the workshop
Troubleshoot using diagnostic processes to identify faults and solve complex technical problems with limited to no outside support.
Perform complex measurements and verify against SCHOTTEL standards for conformity
Conduct test and inspections to QA/QC standards
Interface with customer in an ambassador role for SCHOTTEL and be the on-site point of contact for the all repair process discussions
Report progress and any issues with Service Manager
Inspect, analysis, record calibration results and produce Professional level Service and Technical reports
Participate OEM training
Ensure all work is done in accordance with applicable laws, classification societies, and OEM procedures
Champion knowledge sharing and on the job development of members of the team.
Requirements :
Education: High School diploma; secondary education a plus
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in Maritime business as service engineer
Travel: 75% of time, both local (British Columbia) and national
Physical demands: High
