I worked on HSDG vessels for the last three years.
Vessels are managed by Columbus Ship-management and manned by generally by there own employees on the German flag vessels.
The Liberian flag vessels are manned from the UK via Delta Marine and Delta Meco in the Philippines and Polaris in Poland.
The UK guys sail mainly on the Liberian ships and they are contracted by Delta UK through Hong Kong contract wise.
I signed a CSG contract as well as the ships keep there German bare-boat registry even though they are Liberian flag and this is for tonnage tax purposes.
The fleet is new and the oldest vessel were built in 2002.The runs are worldwide and they run a few joint services with Maersk and Allianca Brazil and CSAV.
All the ships have a large reefer capacity and all have four Gennys or more
Engines are mainly RTA Wartsillas and Man LMC both electronic and conventional.
Spares, non catering are all sent from Germany and are picked up in one of the more busy ports from an ex Hamburg vessel which has a cross over schedule like Hong Kong
Houston Newark.
Accommodation is excellent but the food depends how good the cook is and there is a company barbecue every so often weather and schedule permitting.
All in all they are not anally retentive as one Major player is and are not paper crazy ,the only ,paper work I had was usual work permits, overtime, and PM cards,Spare-gear
and Store Inventory.
You can apply through Delta
