I hope this isn't too off topic, but some of us have been trying to ID this old stationary or marine 2-stroke V-8 diesel. Have very few photos unfortunately. Allegedly of WW2 vintage. This was used to run a generator in a prison in the 30's-50's time frame.

I'd look at a GM/ Detroit. An American early diesel for generators.

Been looking at every old picture I can find, not really coming up with anything. Detroit doesn't seem to have used this kind of configuration.

Its not one i recognized, but the first thought that came to me is that its a Caterpillar; they likes to put the distribution type fuel pumps in the V of the engine, just like this one. And in one of your pictures, there is a part number that seems like a Cat part number - 7BD0541 or the likes. Its not a Detroit, from the fuel system (not unit injectors) and its probably not a Cummins, fuel pump is usual mounted on the side, and its a common rail. Cat though usually put their logo in the casting, somewhere, and I don't think they ever made a two stroke.

Not sure what that distributor thing near the fuel pump is thought. Air start?

Could be an early Fairbanks as well. Fairbanks built a flat head diesel around the time of WW2 prior to switching to the lighter weight and higher HP opposed piston engine

I though I found something, but I don't see enough similarities in the block construction. The year and size look pretty close though, as the ones for the Brons. The Dutch manufacturer built two stroke V8 engines used to pump seawater out of Holland... so it imagine it could have easily been used for generator as well.
