I regret to pass on the death of Jolly Jack in late 2020
He was the TC examiner in the Halifax office and help demystify the tangle of regulations on here between his examinations. I was always happy I had written all my papers anytime I had a conversation with him because his Scottish accent was so thick to be incomprehensible.
Thank you for taking the time to help the various engineers and I hope that the boiler room in the sky is well drafted.

Jolly Jack was a considerable contributor to this community. I am saddened and disappointed to read this today.

Sad to hear this I took most of my exams for him when I got my canadian ticket. I did mention his accent when I did my orals and he said he doesn’t have an accent everybody else does. A great guy that tired to help you pass not trying to fail you. RIP

Shocked and saddened to just read JJ's entry into the FWE column.
Although I never met him I felt he was one of the major contributers to the site and one of the old school re his experiences of the marine engineering world.
I will allways remember the banter we experienced together particularly concerning Landing craft.
Another proper experienced hand gone.
