Westfalia Purifier OSD 18 Issue

Good Afternoon,

Looking for some advice on an issue we have been having on Westfalia diesel oil purifier. Purifier shows alarm "WATER OUTLET FLOW TOO HIGH" and trips off. This alarm comes roughly about 5 minutes after the unit is processing fuel. Looking through the inspection port, you can see the bowl start to break over and then the alarm follows about 30 seconds after. Issues with the control panel have been ruled out, as we installed a bowl from another unit and there were no issues.

Things we have done so far:
-Tore down bowl and replaced all seals multiple times, including polyamide gaskets
-Checked all measurements for polyamide gasket height clearance
-Installed new water solenoid block and function tested (all good)
-Cleaned all water lines/piping as well as orifices and check valves

Looking for some ideas on what to try next. Bowl has had seals replaced multiple times during this troubleshooting so I do not believe seals are the issue. Shoots great during the startup sequence, just seems to lose the seal after about 5 minutes.

Hello dinmotoroperator, did you figure it out? Interesting that you swapped the complete bowl and all was good as it rules out a lot of things. It suggests it's something to do with the closing chamber bottom and/or the annular piston. It sounds like you did a proper job fitting the polyamide seals but is there an impression in them as evidence of the force against them? Are you heating the diesel; to what temperature? Is the closing water leaking past the seal (the one on the closing chamber bottom) or the shaft seal, were all the guiding surfaces greased up as advised? I don't remember if this is W/F or AL but the drain holes in the bowl have a screwed-in orifice, like a grub screw with a precise sized hole through it, these sometimes fall out and go unnoticed - the flow rate of the drain is important.
