PROGRAM MANAGER, MARINE EDUCATION PROGRAMS

Victoria & Vancouver

As part of the Talent Development & Attraction team and reporting to the Manager, Talent Strategies, you support operations with the management of the licensed training and development programming, specifically the MEP and Cadet Sponsorship initiatives. You play a key role to ensure collaboration across departments, and your proven ability to ensure departmental employee workforce plans are supported and aligned with the strategic business plans are key to program delivery.

Some of your responsibilities include:

Managing enrollment process for fleet-wide course engagement, including all employee outreach and administrative support tasks;
Executing an annual needs assessment strategy to create a priority list for funding dollars based on operational demands and key strategic goals;
Working in conjunction with Operations and Crewing to ensure full picture understanding of the current and future organizational structure to ensure proactive training goals are met;
Facilitating informational sessions to ensure fleet-wide understanding and engagement;
Maintaining strong collaborative processes with the Crewing department to ensure peak attendance for courses is achieved;
Supporting team leads as champions of advancement for their team members through career pathing & development plans;
Collaborating with educational partners such as BCIT, WMI and Camosun College to plan and deliver the required courses to support employee advancement;
Seeking out the latest research and best practices, and identify key trends that will inform current and future learning programs; and
Assessing, benchmarking & collecting feedback about the effectiveness of training programs to meet operational licensed staffing demands.

You are a process and documentation expert, capable of creating and maintaining concise, relevant, up-to-date deliverables. You are highly detailed, organized and collaborative with exceptional follow-through. You possess a thorough understanding of Transport Canada requirements and incoming legislation and demonstrate an understanding of key characteristics, processes and procedures related to the marine industry. Most critically, you are a continuous learner and demonstrate strong relationship building skill capable of working with various leaders across BC Ferries.

Complimenting those skills, you have completed post-secondary education and/or have more than 3 years of strong exposure to project management or training programs.
