Few people ever see these spaces; the engine
room of a large passenger ships. This is the port side shaft tunnel of the
Rhapsody of the Seas. The propulsion shaft turns up to 147 rpm,
transmitting 17 megawatts of power, to one of two, four bladed
propeller. Each fix pitch propeller measures 5.4 meters in diameter and
weighs 14,718 kg, propelling the ship to a top speed of 23.6 knots.
